Je reconnais que ces derniers mois je n'ai pas beaucoup travaillé sur le bateau car j'ai eu quelques problèmes de santé, mais ca va beaucoup mieux maintenant.

I have to admit I have slowed down working on Addyson these past few months since I had some health problems but things are going better now.

Essai de la voile du tape-cul dans le jardin ;

Checking mizzen sail in the garden.

Il faut juste que je travaille sur le noeud de drisse à faire sur la vergue ;

Good, but I have to define the right hitch on the yard.

Essai d'implantation du mât de tape-cul in situ ;

C'est bon, il faudra prévoir une protection pluie ;

It's good but I have to add a rain protection.

Test de pose et d'érection  du mât principal à l'aide du beaupré qui est quasiment perpendiculaire au mât  

Installation and erection of the main mast with the help of the bowsprit.

En utilisant le hale-bas du beaupré le mât arrive presque à la verticale et se positionne très facilement à la main ;

Using the down-haul bowsprit we can put the mast almost vertical and  finished by hand easily.

Descente du mât  : même procédure en sens inverse, à la main en premier puis par le hale-bas de beaupré ;

Putting mast down : same process in reverse, by hand first then using the bowsprit down-haul.

REMORQUE, TRAILER 

Pour changer un peu je dois m'occuper de la remorque d'une part pour obtenir un poids correct sur la tête d'attelage et d'autre part connaitre le poids actuel du bateau en espérant qu'il soit inférieur à 2 tonnes.

To change a bit I will take care of the trailer, on one hand to get the right weight on the head of the trailer and on her hand to know the weight of the boat hoping that is under 2000 kg.

La tête de l'attelage ALKO est donné pour 120 kg max ;

The trailer's head is rated for 120 kg max

Utilisation d'un peson de 300kg  pour mesurer la force exercée sur la tête de l'attelage,

 135 kg c'est trop, le bateau a pourtant été reculé de 40 cm mais cela ne suffit pas il faut encore reculer le bateau sur la remorque ;
135 kg it's too much the boat was pushed back 40 cm but it is not enough I have to go further.

Le bateau ayant reculé de 10 cm j'obtiens 108,6 kg, c'est parfait.

En route pour une bascule publique, un peu anxieux sur le résultat ;

On the way to a public scale a little anxious for the result.

Youpi !, j'obtiens 1500kg pour le bateau ce qui me laisse un peu de marge pour les finitions. j'ai pris la bonne remorque avec un PTAC de 2600kg (poids remorque environ 600 kg)

Youpi !, I get 1500 kg which give me margin for finishing. I got the right trailer with gross weight of 2600kg (weight trailer around 600 kg)

Le bateau, reculé de 50 cm a permis d'équilibrer l'attelage mais a créé un porte-à-faux arrière important qu'il faut maintenant corriger en déplaçant le train de roues et le bateau vers l'avant d'environ 50 cm.
Sitôt dit sitôt fait, enfin en 8 heures tout de même : découplage de la tige filetée de commande de frein, levage d'un côté, puis l'autre avec équilibre maintenu par des morceaux de madrier jusqu'à ce que les roues ne touchent plus le sol, libération du double essieu en relâchant les brides au nombre de 12 soit 24 écrous nylstop, puis roulage des roues vers l'avant. En fait, compte-tenu de la structure de la remorque le déplacement optimal vers l'avant est de à 42,7 cm sinon c'était au-delà de 52 cm.
Vérification que le déplacement est bien symétrique et que les distances droites et gauches entre la tête d'attelage et les roues sont bien égales.
Il reste à changer les 24 écrous nylstop de 12 par des neufs dès que possible.

The weight on the trailer is well balanced but the rear overhang is very important, so it is necessary to move forward the wheels and the boat around 50 cm.
Not very difficult but very long (8 hours) raising the trailer with the boat on, releasing wheels from ground, packing the trailer with pieces of wood, releasing the threaded rod braking and unscrewed the 24 nylstop nuts and rolling wheels forward.
Given the structure of the trailer the wheels can be advanced from 0 to 42.7 cm or beyond 52 cm,
I choose 42.7 cm.
I just have to change the nylstop nuts as soon as I receive new ones.

Pour compléter le déplacement des roues le treuil de la remorque est utilisé pour rapprocher le bateau vers l'avant  et obtenir une force légèrement inférieure à 110 kg sur la tête de l'attelage et lorsque105.5 s'est affiché j'ai bloqué' le support de treuil.

To finalize the weight adjustment on the head of the trailer the winch is used to move slowly the boat forward and when I saw 105.5 kg  on the crane scale I stopped the operation.

SORTIE DE L'ABRI ; OUT OF THE SHED

Le toit ouvrant est mis en place avec ses 2 vérins à gaz ; 

pop-up roof  assisted by gas piston.

Essai du bout-dehors et de son hale-bas de sous-barbe avec des poulies bois ;

Une protection contre les intempéries ;

Protection against bad wether.

Travaux de vernissage sur les espars  : 2 mats et 2 vergues (Misaine et tape-cul), 1 bôme (tape-cul) 1 bout-dehors et 2 tangons  (grand voile et genois) :

Varnishing spars : 2 masts and 2 yards (main and mizzen), 1 boom (mizzen), 1 bowsprit and 2poles ( main and genoa)

La REMORQUE ; The TRAILER

Un moment délicat : glisser la remorque sous le bateau.

Ca parait simple car il suffit d'un cric et de quelques morceaux de bois, mais c'est très éprouvant pour les nerfs car il faut veiller à conserver l'équilibre latéral du bateau, la quille n'ayant que 10 cm d'épaisseur et il faut lever la quille de 50 cm

A delicate moment : sliding the trailer under her.

It seems simple because we only need a jack and some pieces of wood (a lot in fact), but it is very nerve-wrecking because much care must be taken to keep the lateral balance of the boat as the keel is only 10 cm wide and we have to lift the keel 50 cm.

Il faut procéder graduellement en levant l'avant puis l'arrière ou inversement de l'épaisseur des planches disponibles entre 2 et 3 cm à chaque étape remplacées progressivement par des morceaux de madrier de 75 mm.

L'équilibre latéral est assuré par les supports d'origine surélevés au même rythme que la quille.
C'est une procédure un peu longue même à 2 avec l'aide de mon fils Philippe, mais il faut être patient l'enjeu est important.

It is necessary to proceed step by step lifting the front then the back or vice versa of the thickness of the boards available from 2 to 3 cm replaced gradually by timber (75mm).

The process is very long even with the help of my son Philip, but we have to be patient, the challenge is important.

Maintenant il faut équilibrer la coque sur la remorque car le poids sur l'avant est trop important : Il faut ou reculer la coque ou éventuellement avancer les essieux, ce qui est plus délicat.

Now it is necessary to balance the hull because the weight on the front is too important. I need to move back the hull or to move forward the wheels axles, which is a bit more delicate.

Ma réflexion sur la méthode à utiliser  pour lever en sécurité le bateau et glisser la remorque dessous n'est pas encore aboutie aussi pour me changer les idées, j'ai décidé de construire une petite annexe et j'ai choisi un plan de John Welsford : "scraps".

My thoughts on the method to safely lift the boat and slide the trailer underneath is not yet finalised so to change my mind I decided to build a small tender and I chose a plan from John Welsford : "scraps"

Et voilà, une jolie petite annexe qui ravit les enfants !

 And here we are, a nice little tender that delights my grandchildren !

Le voilier est positionné contre le mur pour avoir un dégagement vertical maxi : 58 cm en ôtant le toit amovible;

The boat is positioned against the wall, protected by a mattress, to have a maximum vertical clearance : 58 cm by removing the roof of the cabin.

La remorque est positionnée, prête pour la suite ;

J'ai encore quelques travaux à faire dans la cabine et le cockpit et ensuite il n'y a plus qu'à lever  le bateau d'environ 50 cm sans qu'il bascule ce qui nest pas le plus évident.

I have some more work to do in the cabin and the cockpit and after I just have to lift the boat about 50 cm without loosing the balance and that is not the easiest.
